Todd, I feel you're really going somewhere with these recent paintings. This is a terrific, iconic image. Everything in the image seems essential. Wonderful Hopper-like simplicity and solidity to the forms.

Todd, these are really great... they work so well, artistically - and tell an interesting story too!

Thanks so much, really. I'm enjoying painting them and including the figure to help tell the story. I did a few more drawings while I was cruising down this road, I hope to turn them into paintings.
All my best to you all.

These two paintings are fantastic Todd. The figure is a nice addition to your work. I especially like "To the Mother Ship"--maybe because I've always thought standing while sculling a dinghy was cool. Great light too. Rock on.

Todd - Your comment on my blog have prompted me to add to mine. I do love these paintings. Your vantage point (or the viewers vantage point) is a wonderful decision on your part. Also, in my first comment I wanted to mention the calm darkness but I was afraid it would sound negative - but I mean it exactly the opposite - there is a peacefulness in the depth of your colors. Great work.

This painting caught my eye as soon as I saw it on DP. Very well thought composition, with beautiful contrasts and compliments!

A wonderful narrative painting -- the fade of the deep water to the shallows is beautifully painted. The orange of the overalls and the blue of the water makes for an visually rich focal point. Sooo Nice !!!
