Very lifelike. I feel I can almost reach into the painting and pick up the rose.

Excellent observation. Believe it or not, I deliberately loaded the panel with thick gesso to try and create an impasto-like surface to paint on. I wanted chunky but you are right, I got distracting instead. Lesson learned!
